Club Camp - A Gorgeous Fine Dining Place in Beijing

Review of Club Camp

When I got into Club Camp, I loved it right away.

It's situated on the top floor of the building of 8 Gong Ti Xi Lu inside the West Gate of the Workers’ Stadium, right above Coco Banana and Three Guizhou Men. Camp's design and decor are very artistic and elegant. It's a perfect mixup of contemporary arts and traditional Chinese culture by leveraging its large, semi-industrial space, contemporary art pieces, comfortable sofas and tables, classic antique furniture and large tropical plants. It provides a plenty of lounging room. The more private areas located beside the windows offer great views across the city.

The food here is Yunnan style, which is getting more and more popular in Beijing after more and more people visited Banna, Lijiang and Shangri-la. Based on the original Yunnan Cuisine, the chef creates a lot of new dishes with southeast asian ingredients. I have to say the food here tastes much better than those I ate in Yunnan.

Yi Tribe Torch Shaped Prawns is a very nice surprise. The prawns were grilled and wrapped by tinfoil like a few mini torches. When it's served, you could see the flame lit on the salt beneath the prawns. Very interesting and tasty.

I loved the Beef Dumpling, fresh strips of beef in a hot gravy surrounded by perfectly succulent beef dumplings that you’ll gobble up in seconds.

Yunnan is called the Kingdom of Mushrooms. In Camp, I think all the mushroom featured dishes or soups are gorgeous and worth of trying. The Stirred Fried Mushrooms with Ham and Vegetables were amazingly great.

Next time when you are wondering where to eat with your friends, you should try Club Camp.

p.s It's quite busy during the dinner time, you'd better make a reservation before you go, 010-6552 4945
